Chicago transit officials are planning to spend up to $2 billion on a new generation of rail cars to modernize the nation's second-largest mass transit system.
The CTA said that ridership grew to 545.6 million rides last year, an increase of 2.4 percent from 2011. The transit authority also said that rail ridership is at its highest in 50 years.
Wilmette-based Butterfield Kitchen will operate cafes at the Roosevelt station serving the Orange, Green and Red Lines and at the Jefferson Park Blue Line station.
