A city council committee has passed an ordinance that would allow police officers to write tickets for small amounts of marijuana. But alderman still have some lingering concerns.
Chicago Ald. Danny Solis introduced an ordinance to decriminalize marijuana possession this week. If the legislation passed, people caught carrying a small amount of the drug would pay a fine rather than face arrest.
An ordinance introduced by Ald. Danny Solis at Wednesday’s City Council meeting proposed the decriminalization of small amounts marijuana. Under the proposal, people caught with 10 grams or less of the green stuff would not be arrested but would get a ticket for $200.
