I have been watching Google trends and as the Presidential race starts to wind down, it looks like people are wanting to know what the electoral college is all about. (It has a volcanic rating) Basically it boils down to this:
Our man in the middle, Tony Weisman, is inside the inner circle at Grant Park. He says the energy is incredible at the moment and writes "[The] city looks amazing. I went thru security with Oprah who was pumping her fist and shaking hands."
Chicago Public Radio's Alison Cuddy is at the Chicago Young Republican's Election Night Party at the Chicago Hilton. At this point in the evening she's standing in a crowd of about 250 people, and oddly enough Alison is finding it hard to locate card-carrying Republicans.
Our own Ben Calhoun, live in Grant Park, just likened the scene there to a big living room. That's feeling you get when you have tens of thousands of people smashed into a triangular area all watching giant Jumbotrons. The network of choice?
Per the previous post, CNN is reporting the following demographic data based on exit polling results among 1,242:
African American Voters: 96% Obama
White Voters: 54% Obama; 45% McCain
White Male Voters: 48% Obama; 50% McCain
Female Voters: 67% Obama; 32% McCain
