We are watching some local Congressional races closely. We're looking at the 6th, 8th, 10th and 14th. Here is a quick update:
In the 6th, incumbent Roskam is winning by a slim margin over Morgenthaler.
In the 8th Bean has 58% to Greenberg's 42%.
As we await results in these 3 key states, Fox News Midwest Bureau Chief Todd Cigantek reports that their exit polling suggests huge margins for Obama among young voters - but big gains for McCain among white males. Here's the breakdown thus far, according to their exit polling:
If you were crafty enough to catch some of Lollapalooza for free by hanging out at Monroe Street between Michigan and Lake Shore Drive, don't think about trying it tonight. The police have shut down that area.

I caught the crowd reacting to CNN's check-in with their reporter in Grant Park. The crowd is pretty quiet until they turn on the TV lights and they are broadcast on the big screen. Which is kind of funny because they are going to do that at least 25 more times tonight.
When and how to call election results is both nebulous and highly contentious. In our case, we're erring on the side of caution at the blog and following the lead of the Assocated Press with updates and final projections.
