2008 will go down as a historic election, and not just because of the results. Turnout has exceeded expections, particularly in the morning hours. The Chicago Board of Elections is predicting that 80-82% of registered voters came out to the polls today, pushing the numbers over the 1 million mark.

All reports indicate a record turnout in Chicago this election day. I personally visited five polling places this morning and some of them had already processed 50% of the registered voters for the precinct! Our intrepid photographers have been out shooting the activity.
