Yet another indie-pop band hailing from New York, Cults provided a pleasant mid-afternoon surprise, especially as I wasn’t wowed by last year’s self-titled debut. But Wild Flag was potent enough to make you think it could even bend the weather to its will.

The cultural fare is flying fast and furious this weekend, from the Taste of Chicago to Pitchfork Music Fest. Weekender cuts through the fat to find you some meaty good times.
