When you meet Wes Perry for the first time, you know you are in the presence of fierceness. This Tuesday evening, while battling a stomach flu, I met up with Perry for drinks and loaded tater tots at Mary's Attic in Andersonville, and I was immediately struck by his larger than life stature.

Best food and drink events of the week include exotic handmade chocolates, lucky Chinese food, and more.

Drive-in movies have nostalgic appeal for the old and young. They haven't yet totally gone dark - about a dozen remain in Illinois. But can the drive-in survive the challenges of the digital age?

The band opens for Bobby Bare Jr. at the CIMM Fest closing night show, at The Hideout, on Sunday April 15, where they're likely to turn the event into a real honky tonk. 

Martha Bayne's Soup & Bread events at The Hideout are simple. No bands, no talks, no comedians. Just soup and bread. Professional and amateur chefs (from Doug Sohn of Hot Doug's to Martha's dad) provide the soup, and donations go to local food banks.
