Chicago has produced marquee artists in the past—the Windy City is, after all, the home of Kanye, Common and Lupe Fiasco, to name a few. But Chicago has typically been associated with rap's conscious styles. In other words, Chicago has never had its street moment—until now.

Multi-disciplinary and multi-talented artist Saul Williams has been praised nationally and internationally as an outstanding poet, writer, actor and musician.

From the very beginning, the members of Chicago hip hop group BBU have been passionate activists: both in community organizing and in their music. Combining danceable beats with social commentary, the group has been generating buzz in underground circles and dance clubs alike.

Members of Minneapolis hip hop collective and label Doomtree have once again united for a joint full-length release, titled No Kings.
