In his 15 years on the bench, Justice Stephen G. Breyer has seen his share of controversial cases in the U.S. Supreme Court. While on the bench he heard cases involving school segregation, the detention of illegal immigrants, the legitimacy of a recount vote in Bush v. Gore.
