After announcing massive layoffs, the district wants Chicago teachers to be part of a statewide plan that includes greater employee contributions, salary caps for pensions, higher retirement ages and revised cost of living adjustments.
Chicago Public Schools is laying off a massive number of teachers and school staff. 2,113 employees will get pink slips—about half of them are teachers. Teacher aides, clerks, lunch staff, and security guards are also affected.
