My polling place is the Second Unitarian Church on Barry Ave. in East Lakeview. My first time voting here was in this year's primary and it was a nice change from my previous polling place at the Holiday Inn on Diversey.
Just down the street from the D.A.N.K. Haus is Queen of Angels Catholic Church. They actually have buildings on Sunnyside and on Western Avenue (north and south of Sunnyside). The parish center is the only one that serves as a polling place.
Earlier this week, reporter Tony Arnold and I trekked it south down I 55 to Joliet, Illinois. Tony is covering the hotly-contested 11th district race there and I was along to get a sense of the community, and what issues are driving voters to the polls.
The D.A.N.K. Haus is where I've voted in every election since 2003. D.A.N.K. actually stands for Deutsch - Amerikanische National Kongress and it's host to not only German-language and culture classes, but also lots of norteıo concerts. It's located at 4740 N Western Avenue in Chicago.
The 21st Century Seniors Counseling Center of Lake View at 1908 W Montrose Avenue is the polling place for the 10th Precinct of the 47th Ward of Chicago.
