Poverty is deepening in Illinois schools. More than half of all public schoolchildren in the state are considered low-income. The number of low-income students in a school can have a tremendous impact on how that school scores on state standardized tests. That is very clear from a new analysis by WBEZ and Daily Herald. We talk about the topic. Also, Tom Skilling sheds light on Summer Solstice. And, we discuss, "The Who and The What" Victory Garden Theater’s new play.
This week on Global Notes, Jerome and Radio M host Tony Sarabia mark the summer solstice with some reggae, Italian cabaret, South African jazz and more summer tunes from around the world. Track ListSummertime – Billy StewartAzzurr
