Congressional Democrats are holding firm against a plan to extend tax cuts from President George W. Bush's time in office. That includes Democrats from President Barack Obama's home state of Illinois.Mr. Obama wants to extend tax cuts for wealthy Americans in addition to the middle class.
Congress heads back to Washington Monday to begin the lame duck session. Republican Congresswoman Judy Biggert represents Chicago's Southwest suburbs. She said she hopes the House of Representatives takes up a measure to extend the tax cuts passed under former President George W. Bush.
