The process of remapping Chicago’s 50 wards, which takes place every 10 years as new Census data comes in has been called a mess, an opportunity and more. A deal among Chicago’s City Council members has yet to be made and the public now gets a chance to weigh in.

City Hall was tense Thursday and more political maneuvering was expected Friday. Aldermen have been fighting for electoral survival as they redraw the city’s ward boundaries, which they have to do every 10 years using new census data.
