It's sparked <a href="http://www.wbez.org/Content.aspx?audioID=30519#comments">a lot of comments</a>, not to mention a thirty minute conversation between me and my wife this morning. The essay's author feels a tension between pursuing a profession she enjoys and pursuing financial independence. It seems to me that there's a third way she could approach her situation- changing her lifestyle to fit her income.
