That’s where she’ll be co-spinning with DJ Mary Nisi at their semi-regular gig, Smashing Time, this Saturday, June 25. The equipment they use ranges from turntables to CD players to laptops. But the overwhelming majority of them got their start on turntables. In fact, some DJs say if you didn’t earn your stripes on the turntables, you just don’t have the cred. But is that just the DJ version of "Back in my day..."?

Friday's DJ thinks so. Most days Samuel Vega can be found developing his passion for sound at WBEZ as one of the Pritzker Journalism Fellows. But on nights and weekends he’s known around Chicago as "DJ Bone." Vega provided the beats throughout the hour.

Fri, 04 Mar 2011 15:36:00 -0600 http://www.wbez.org/episode-segments/2011-03-04/wbez-pritzker-fellow-samuel-vega-aka-dj-bone-83333
