He founded the organization to help Palestinian children express themselves through the arts. Born to a Jewish-Israeli mother and a Palestinian-Christian father, the well-known actor and director knew his efforts put him at risk. &nbsp;One week ago, a hooded gunman shot him to death as he stepped from his car outside the theatre. &nbsp;</p><p>Independent journalist Max Budovitch, host of the online program <a href="http://crosstalkwybcx.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><em>Cross Talk</em></a>, visited The Jenin Freedom Theatre and met with Mer-Khamis.
