The Alliance Française de Chicago, founded in 1897, is part of an international network of over 1,100 Alliances worldwide. It's Mission as Chicago’s center of French language and French speaking cultures is to promote exchange, understanding, and friendship between Americans and French speaking people—including Europeans, Canadians, Africans, and people from the Caribbean and the Middle East—a world of more than 150 million French speakers. Offering a full-range of cultural events, classes for all ages, and a 14,000 item circulating library collection of DVDs, magazines, CDs, and books, invites all to join them in facilitating the development of global perspectives.
