Breeze Richardson

As the Director for Strategic Partnerships, Breeze is responsible for working to ensure a coordinated and fully developed partnership program for Chicago Public Media. Through collaborations with institutions throughout the region, the program produces content for distribution on-air, online, and through live events. As a producer, Breeze manages Chicago Amplified, Chicago Public Media’s gateway to community voices and ideas, as well as WBEZ's Louder Than a Bomb Series.

Breeze joined Chicago Public Media in September 2003 as an intern for Worldview, WBEZ’s weekday global affairs program. She later became a producer for Worldview, then went on to produce StoryCorps-Chicago in 2005.  From 2008-2012 Breeze served as the Executive Director of the Off-Air Event Series, producing over 45 live events hosting nearly 30,000 participants.

In December 2011, Breeze published "Measuring Community Engagement: A Case Study from Chicago Public Media" (Reynolds Journalism Institute, University of Missouri) and in 2012 she was interviewed for "Engaging Audiences: Measuring Interactions, Engagement and Conversions" (May 2012) and "Dialogue and Deliberation for Civic Engagement in Chicago: Building A Community Of Practice" (Dec 2012).

Prior to joining Chicago Public Media, Breeze hosted Get up, Stand up at WHPK at the University of Chicago, was a regular columnist for The University Daily Kansan, and produced The Kaw Valley Independent (a community newspaper in Lawrence, Kansas).

Breeze has a M.P.P. from the University of Chicago’s Irving B. Harris Graduate School of Public Policy and a B.A. in Economics and American Studies from the University of Kansas.

Originally from Kansas, Breeze resides in the Northcenter neighborhood of Chicago with her husband, Kelsey, and their boys, Gus and Iggy.
