Leah Pickett is a writer for WBEZ and the Chicago Tribune.
She was born in Dallas, Tex., but years of watching Siskel & Ebert inspired her to move to Chicago and study film at Columbia College. In 2012, she graduated from Columbia with a B.A. in Film (Screenwriting, Casting, Producing, and Cinema Studies).
In addition to blogging about popular culture for WBEZ.org, Leah writes dining reviews and features for the Chicago Tribune. Her writing also has appeared in the Chicago Reader, Thought Catalog, and the music webzine Pop’Stache.
Currently, Leah co-hosts a weekly segment on Vocalo’s the Music Vox with Jesse Menendez called “Beyond the Music.” Show topics have included the riot grrrl movement, teenage sexuality in pop music, and the rise of queer hip hop and R&B.
Leah also co-hosted the first season WBEZ’s “Changing Channels,” a podcast about the future of television. Season One is available for free on iTunes.
You can find Leah on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr.
