Lewis Wallace
Lewis Wallace is a Pritzker Journalism Fellow. He was nominated for the Pritzker Fellowship by Mariame Kaba of Project NIA, which is one of Vocalo’s community partners. Their mission is to reduce the reliance on arrest, detention, and incarceration for addressing youth crime and to promote restorative justice. Lewis worked at the the Rogers Park project as a volunteer and training coordinator, as well as the coordinator of Chain Reaction, a video and audio documentary initiative that records stories about youth encounters with police.
He has previously worked as an organizer with LGBTQ youth, a sex educator, and a community organizer around housing, childcare access, and education. He has been a freelance writer for independent press, covering issues ranging from public housing to the contemporary cult of the Virgin Mary.
Lewis has a B.A. in Religious Studies from Northwestern University.
Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Lewis has lived in Rogers Park since 2006.
