Niala Boodhoo
Niala Boodhoo is the business reporter at WBEZ.
Niala joined WBEZ in 2010 as the Chicago reporter for Changing Gears, a multi-station project that helped document the economic transformation of the industrial Midwest. Her stories have also aired on Marketplace, NPR's Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Weekend Edition Saturday.
Prior to joining WBEZ, Niala was a reporter with The Miami Herald, where she covered the local economy and did multimedia work in radio, video and online. She has been a business reporter since 2000 for Reuters, in London and Washington; the Associated Press in Miami and The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Niala is a graduate of Calvin College. She also has a M.S.J. from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and a M.A. from Florida International University in Latin American and Caribbean studies.
She also represents the Chicago chapter on the national board of the Asian American Journalists Association.
