Robin Amer is a documentary maker based in Chicago. Much of her work, including the hour-long radio documentary Reconstructing Providence, deals with the complex lives of post-industrial cities. Her story Ghosts of Gary, which explored the ruins of the once stately Palace Movie Theater in Gary, Ind., won the 2007 prize for Best Radio Documentary from the Indiana chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists and was a finalist for the Peter Lisagor Award in Best Radio Documentary from the Chicago Headline Club.
Prior to her current gig as a producer for WBEZ, Robin was a Host/Producer for the radio station and web community Vocalo, a producer for the public radio show Open Source, and an artist-in-residence at AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude from Brown University with a degree in Art Semiotics.
