Sam Hudzik
As WBEZ's political reporter, Sam covers local, state and federal government and elections.
Sam previously worked as news desk editor and producer at WBEZ. Prior to that, he covered Congress, the Supreme Court and federal agencies from Washington, D.C. for several public radio stations in the Midwest.
Sam’s reporting has been recognized by the Illinois Associated Press Broadcasters Association and by the Radio Television Digital News Association’s Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards. He also reported for the award-winning WBEZ series “Inside and Out: Young people and juvenile justice in Illinois.”
Before joining WBEZ, Sam worked at a political research firm, and as an aide to U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington state.
Sam has a B.A. in political communication from George Washington University. He grew up in south suburban Park Forest. He now lives in Chicago with his wife, Beth, and daughter, Amelia.
Sam is on leave until spring of 2013. He's taking part in the Knight-Wallace journalism fellowship at the University of Michigan, and tweeting from @samhudzik.
