Closing Arguments Set to Begin in Salah Trial

SHARE Closing Arguments Set to Begin in Salah Trial

Closing arguments are scheduled to begin today in the terrorism trial of a Chicago area man.

Muhammad Salah’s trial started about two and a half months ago. Many of the allegations in the indictment reach back to the early 1990’s when Salah helped deliver about a million dollars to Hamas. Prosecutors say that money funded terrorism. They’ll present their closing arguments today.

Defense attorneys say the money was for humanitarian purposes and they point out the donations were given well before 1997 when the U.S. State department designated Hamas a terrorist organization.

Defense attorneys are expected to present their closing arguments Tuesday with jury instructions on Wednesday, and deliberations Thursday.
