Independent Organization Passes Daley For Endorsement

Chicago mayoral candidate Dorothy Brown picked up a political ally yesterday.

She got the endorsement of the Independent Voters of Illinois - Independent Precinct Organization.

The group passed up Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, who brushed off the endorsement.

Mayor Daley: You go to the people. That’s who decides these elections. I’ve always believed that. In the past in the present, in the future. Like anything else, when you’re an employer and you have to say no to people, just like a parent, people get upset that’s all part of being in public service.

But Mayor Daley hasn’t lost any friends – the IVI – IPO never endorsed him.

The group says the Daley campaign did not fill out a requisite candidate questionnaire.

The IVI-IPO yesterday also endorsed sixteen challengers running against incumbent aldermen.
