Nicolaus de Lyra Bible Commentary

A rare medieval bible commentary is coming to Chicago.

The Newberry Library and the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies have acquired a 15th Century printing of a work by Nicolaus of Lyra.

This copy of the Postilla Litteralis super totam Bibliam is one of only three known copies in the United States.

Chicago Public Radio’s Jason DeRose spoke with Paul Saenger who curates rare books at the Newberry Library.
