And if you choose wisely, your theater-going experience may leave you enlightened and educated.

There’s one local theater company that’s bringing issues of immigration, identity, cultural awareness and assimilation to light.

Teatro Americano performs in schools and festivals in the city.

Over the weekend the actors took the show to Mexico, where they performed at a summit on migration.

Chicago Public Radio’s Catrin Einhorn was there.
