CTA Bus Shooting Prompts Gun Control Questions

Chicago Public Schools CEO Arne Duncan is calling for more “sensible gun control laws.” Last week’s CTA bus shooting claimed the life of a Julian High School student.

According to Duncan, that marks the twentieth Chicago Public School student killed by gunfire just this year.

DUNCAN: And I have to say, and this may be a little controversial, if there are 20 people killed from the Hinsdale school system or the Winnetka school system, would that be tolerated? And I don’t know what the answer to that would be.

Police charged two teens with first degree murder and five counts of attempted murder. They are still investigating how the teens obtained the gun.

Police report the incident was gang related and that the intended target was not shot.
