This weekend, experimental music enthusiasts in Chicago will gather for a concert by turntablist Philip Jeck, from the UK.

This might not be everybody’s idea of the perfect night out – experimental music often eludes, confuses, or just plain irritates listeners.

But there’s a group in Chicago that would beg to differ.

Chicago Public Radio’s Julie Shapiro has this story about the promoters and consumers of experimental music.

Andrew Fenchel is the founder of the experimental music series LAMPO.

LAMPO’s 100th show will feature turntablist Philip Jeck, who you’re hearing right now.

He’ll perform Saturday night at 9 at the 6ODUM on Chicago Avenue.
