Motorola announced that it will cut an additional four thousand jobs by the end of the year.

In January the company announced it would trim 3500 jobs as part of its two-year cost-cutting plan.

Jennifer Erickson is spokesperson for the Schaumburg-based company.

ERICKSON: The job reductions will be occurring across all businesses functions and regions. Potentially we could have employees that are affected in the Chicago area, but we didn’t break down the overall number.

Motorola says the new cuts combined with additional spending controls will save six hundred million dollars in 2008.
