Today Chicago business leaders got an insiders look at what it’s going to take to win the 2016 Olympic bid. Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee spoke to the Economic Club of Chicago and the Chicago Council of Global Affairs. The IOC is expected to pick a host city in the fall of 2009. Rogge says Mayor Richard Daley has run a strong campaign on behalf of Chicago’s bid.

ROGGE: Mr. Mayor to judge by your eloquence you don’t have to train anymore unlike the athletes. You are ready for the 4th of October 2009.

Rogge says the IOC is looking for a host city that can sustain improvements after the games are over. He says the IOC will produce an ‘Olympic Games Impact’ study that identifies social, economic and environmental criteria for host cities.
