U.S. Catholic bishops will likely elect Chicago’s Cardinal Francis George as their president today. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has come under fire in recent years for its handling of the clergy sex abuse scandal. That’s a criticism George has faced himself. Reform group Voice of the Faithful president Mary Pat Fox says the Conference will lose its credibility if George is elected president.
