CBS News is facing a writers strike that could affect the most-listened-to news station in Chicago. Unionized news writers for CBS television and radio are scheduled to vote tomorrow on whether to go on strike. The action could effect about 50 workers in Chicago. Leon Colvin is the afternoon drive editor for CBS affiliate, WBBM radio. He plans to vote in favor of the strike.

COLVIN: We’re hoping that maybe this will be the trigger we need to get both sides back to the table and to do some serious negotiating in order to avoid this from happening because we love what we do here. And we don’t want to be standing outside looking in.

Colvin says the union wants to negotiate job security and pay. A spokeswoman for CBS News says the company is prepared for a possible strike, but would not comment further.
