Chesterton Residents Zero in on Wal-Mart

SHARE Chesterton Residents Zero in on Wal-Mart

Talk about a Wal-Mart in the town of Chesterton is getting mixed reviews from residents. The city’s planning commission will hold a meeting tonight to discuss the development off the Indiana Toll Road. So far nothing has been slated for sure, but some, like Rosemary Zimmerman, worry the retail giant will take away from Chesterton’s charm.

ZIMMERMAN: I like the small town. I like the people knowing who I am when I walk into the store and say, ‘Hi, how are you today?’

Others see Wal-Mart as an opportunity to strengthen Chesterton’s economy and create jobs. The meeting starts tonight at 6:30 P.M. at Chesterton’s town hall.
