Hester Shows Up

Chicago Bears kick returner Devin Hester is back in training camp. Hester skipped the Bears’ practices earlier this week in a contract dispute. The special teams star says he deserves more money because the team wants him to double as a wide-receiver.

There’s no word on whether he’s signed a new deal, but Chicago Public Radio sports contributor Cheryl Raye-Stout says Hester made the right decision by showing up.

RAYE-STOUT: He really needed to be at camp, because he doesn’t know all the nuances yet. You don’t want him going over the middle. He’s a small guy. There are going to be teams going after him.

Hester has 11 kick returns for touchdowns in his first couple NFL seasons. That’s just two short of the league record.
