Illinois Senator Barack Obama is scheduled to speak in Chicago today.

Obama is scheduled to speak at 11 this morning. The presumptive Democratic Nominee will be appearing at a conference for journalists of color at McCormick Place. After speaking, Obama will field questions from a panel of reporters. This’ll be the senator’s first public address since returning from his travels over seas. Obama’s recent trip took him through conflict areas in Iraq and Afghanistan and wove through Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

The senator’s trip is the latest chapter in the foreign policy debate between Obama and presumptive Republican Nominee, Arizona Senator John McCain. Poll numbers and perception have typically given McCain an edge when it comes to foreign affairs. For the most part, however, Obama’s recent trip was depicted as a success-while McCain struggled with a number of high-profile stumbles.
