As the Beijing Olympics get underway a local group is focusing on the Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 games. Communities for Equitable Olympics wants city officials to sign a Community Benefits Agreement. The document would guarantee any development for the games would be dedicated to residents when the games are over. Denise Dixon is a spokeswoman for the group.

DIXON: When you build Olympic Village, it will stay here long after the Olympics are gone. So we just want to make sure that the Chicagoans that too will stay here, have the ability to stay in the Olympic Village.

Dixon says the group has talked with Chicago officials and the city’s Olympic organizing committee, but no agreements have been signed yet. The organizing committee did not immediately return calls for comment.
