South Suburb to Get New Mayor Tonight

SHARE South Suburb to Get New Mayor Tonight

The south suburban village of Matteson will get an interim mayor tonight. Longtime Mayor Mark Stricker died earlier this month.

Village Trustee Andre Ashmore says Stricker will be remembered for the community’s economic growth, and for the mayor’s committment to the pronounciation of the village’s name.

ASHMORE: Matt-e-son. It’s three syllables. He really didn’t care who you were. He would correct you in a New York minute. That’s probably one of the things that Mark is going to be most remembered for.

Ashmore says he’s interested in serving the final months of Stricker’s term.
