Blagojevich Goes to Denver

SHARE Blagojevich Goes to Denver

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich will speak this morning to the state delegation at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Blagojevich skipped the first couple days of the DNC and arrived yesterday, well after the state’s daily delegation breakfast. Some, including Attorney General Lisa Madigan, call Blagojevich’s absence noticeably strange. But State Representative Jack Franks says the governor should have stayed away.

FRANKS: He’s going to be another side show, with his ties to Tony Rezko and with Rezko being convicted. That’s not something Barack Obama needs here and we don’t need that division.

Rezko is a former political fundraiser to governor Blagojevich and Barack Obama. He was convicted in June on federal corruption charges.
