Call for Strike by Boeing Machinists

SHARE Call for Strike by Boeing Machinists

Chicago-based Boeing is facing a strike. A union representing the airline- manufacturers’ machinists is recommending members reject a new contract offer.

Boeing’s machinists have been negotiating a new contract since May. This week, Boeing issued what it called its best and final offer, it would increase wages 11-percent over three years. But the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers has turned it down. Friday, the union recommended that its members reject the new contract when they vote September 3.

The union represents over 27,000 machinists in three states. The news comes as Boeing tries to deal with production delays and keep up with plane orders.
