SHARE Voter Registration Ramps Up in Chicago

Election officials in Chicago say voter registration is booming. Nearly 100,000 people have registered to vote since the presidential primaries in February. Langdon Neal chairs the Chicago Board of Election.

NEAL: We are experiencing at the Chicago Board almost 10,000 new registrations a day. That is unprecedented in this agency’s history this far in advance of the registration deadline.

That deadline is next Tuesday. Neal says he’s seeing an unusually high number of young voters register or update their addresses. Neal says overseas, military and absentee ballots are also up significantly.
