2001: Bill Ayers Reflects on Fugitive Days

Former Weather Underground co-founder and current UIC Professor Bill Ayers’ name is being tossed around by politicians and media in the final days of this election. Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has been criticized for his relationship with Ayers, who planned bombings against civic institutions back in the 1970s in protest against the Vietnam War. Ayers details his life from growing up in Glen Ellyn to his time with the Weathermen in his memoir Fugitive Days. In 2001, then-Eight Forty-Eight host Steve Edwards sat down with Ayers.
