Duckworth: 'Not Right' to Speculate About Senate Seat

SHARE Duckworth: 'Not Right' to Speculate About Senate Seat

Illinois’ Veterans’ Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth this morning was surrounded by reporters asking her about the state’s open Senate seat. Federal prosecutors allege that Governor Rod Blagojevich, who alone has the power to fill that seat, was trying to enrich himself by selling the seat. Duckworth has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the job.

At an unrelated news conference Wednesday morning at the Hines VA Hospital, Duckworth declined to specifially answer reporters’ questions about the corruption probe. She did say she has never talked with the governor about the Senate seat.
