Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says federal charges against Rod Blagojevich won’t hurt the city’s 2016 Olympic hopes.

DALEY: It’ doesn’t. He wasn’t a participant in (the bid process) at all when you look at it...Daley told reporters many past Olympic hosts have had their own political scandals.

But he insists the current crisis doesn’t tarnish Chicago’s image.

DALEY: No we don’t have a reputation. We have a good city here. This is all about Springfield. This is about Springfield now.

Daley yesterday also announced a new president of Chicago’s 2016 bid.

His outgoing chief of staff Lori Healey is taking up the post.
