President-elect Barack Obama says the American people will have answers by next week to their questions about the scandal surrounding the governor of Illinois. Obama said Wednesday that “it’s a little bit frustrating” that he has not yet been able to release the results of an internal investigation into whether anyone on his staff had talks with embattled Governor Rod Blagojevich.

Listen to an exceprt from Obama’s press conference Wednesday morning.

Obama had been asked at a news conference about the transparency he promised voters in his campaign for the presidency. He repeated that he has been asked by federal prosecutors not to release the report until they give the go-ahead. He said that “by next week, you guys will have the answers to
all your questions.”

Blogajevich is accused of trying to sell or trade Obama’s vacant U.S. Senate seat.
