For many, the holidays just aren’t complete without a visit to downtown Chicago. There’s people-watching, ice-skating, tree-gazing, and loads of shopping. This year, the struggling economy has more people tightening their belts. According to the Chicago Convention and Tourism bureau, visitors are flocking to free activities around the city. And retailers are offering all sorts of sales to try to get shoppers to open their wallets. We hit the streets to find out how shoppers are responding. It turns out the economy hasn’t killed the holiday spirit.
