Chicago Republicans More Determined by Obama's Inauguration

Supporters of President Barack Obama held Inaugural parties throughout the country last night. But not everyone was celebrating, even here in Mr. Obama’s political hometown of Chicago.

Chicago’s Young Republicans packed a downtown Irish pub named Dugan’s Drinking Emporium for some happy hour drinks. Angel Garcia was among the crowd. He says now that Democrats control the Executive and Legislative branches, the Republican Party is unifying, even in a heavily Democratic city like Chicago.

GARCIA: I think that the fact that we have a Democrat in the White House has galvanized the Republicans and brought them together and that’s really made people wake up and go, ‘I have to be active.’ And that’s why we’ve seen such a rise in Young Republican membership.

Garcia says he liked that Mr. Obama was aggressive about the war on terror in his Inaugural speech.
