SHARE Court Refuses to Postpone EJ&E Sale

A federal court this afternoon ruled against postponing Canadian National Railway’s purchase of a 198-mile line that traverses several Chicago suburbs.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia rejected a request from Barrington and other suburbs opposed to the $300 million sale.

Canadian National says it could finalize its acquisition of the Elgin , Joliet & Eastern Railway as early as Friday.

Barrington Mayor Karen Darch told WBEZ her side will continue with another appeal that seeks a review of the federal Surface Transportation Board’s approval of the sale.
