Chicago Mayor Richard Daley’s son has been redeployed in the Army.

The mayor says Patrick Daley received notice of his redeployment while working at his job in Moscow.

DALEY: Well, I think it’s hard for any family, any family member, that their sons or daughters, their husbands or wives, their brothers or sisters, but he has that responsibility and took it upon himself to respond in an appropriate way.

The mayor isn’t saying where his son has been assigned. He says that’s confidential.

Patrick Daley joined the military in 2004 at the age of 29 after earning his graduate degree from the University of Chicago. Patrick Daley is one of the mayor’s three surviving children.
